POLITICAL SCIENCE

The Department organized a visit to the Teen Murti Bhawan for the students of first year to see an Exhibition on ‘Bhagat Singh’, as a part of their academic activity, in the month of November 2008. The Political Science Association organized a trip to Jaipur for its III year students in the month of December, to acquaint them with the political and cultural heritage of the country. A talk by Ms. Nafisa Ali was organized in the month of January ‘09. The Department held an Orientation Programme for its first year students on 17^th July. The Department commenced its in-house lecture series by holding the first lecture on 29^th July, which was delivered by Dr. U.K. Mishra on the topic of ‘Dharma in the Ancient Indian Political Tradition’, followed by another interesting discussion on “Multiculturalism in America” by Prof Gary Weaver on 6^th August and two lectures by Dr. Manjeet Singh on “The United Nations” in the month of September. In order to identify the talents of the first year students, the association organized a ‘Talent Hunt’ competition on 11^th Aug 2009. Students gave group presentations and participated in the creative writing activity.

The Association held its first fest, The Politik-2009 on 25^th September. The theme of the fest was ‘Paradox of Indian Democracy’. A series of events like a talk, nukkad natak, extempore and informal ones like rangoli, collage, spellathon and picture quiz were held. The festival was well attended and saw good participation.
