L'Esprit- The Psychology department of Kamala Nehru College has been organizing various activities apart from the academic work. We are a large group of 96 students and a reputed group of teachers who are at all times communicating with the students and assisting them in their over all growth.

The session started in July with the traditional Fresher's Welcome for the 1st years. It was a 'themed' friendly interaction. A warm welcome followed by some cultural performance was organized. The fresher felt proud to be a part of the institution and looked forward to the coming years.

The Departmental election was held in the month of August for the posts of  President, General Secretary and Treasurer wherein, Omika Obhrai (3rdYr) became the President, Shatrupra Chakraborty (2ndYr) the General Secretary and Shireen Dosa (1st Yr) became the Treasurer.

A workshop by Dr.KC Tuli on Gestalt Psychology was organized on 2nd Sept 2011. This workshop was attended by all members and teachers.  It was a very interactive workshop where in Dr Tuli showed us a documentary to explain  the concept of Life Graph. We all made this and it was followed by basic postures and skills of counseling.

In October we had a movie screening in the college ,The Shutter Island which was followed by a discussion on the film. This was a wonderful form of learning wherein we watched a film and understood various aspects of the human mind.

Post Diwali break, when the exam stress was on with everyone making sure that they have all their notes in place, the sweatshirts were designed. Suggestions poured in from all.  By the time exams started, we were all wearing them and feeling proud to show off that we were a part of L'Esprit at KNC.

In January another movie screening took place.
Many 3rd year students attended workshops at VIMHANS and Adiva on Transference-Counter Transference and Basic Counseling Skills.

A guest speaker program was held in February, where Mrs. Vibha Malhotra, a successful Human Resource Consultant spoke on Androgogy- learning strategies focused on adults. It helped us in understanding about various other branches of Organizational Psychology which we could pursue in the future.

In the month of March we organized a field trip to VIMHANS where we got practical exposure to work in a mental health hospital, how to handle the patients and what are the core ingredients to become a good clinician.

In the same month, a talk was also organized by Jamia University in order to introduce us to the new course on 'Child Development' that they have launched.

Last activity was the farewell. A 'themed' departmental farewell was organized by the 1st &2nd year students for their super seniors-the graduating class, where each one sang and danced, ate and enjoyed. All the 3rd year students received a title each with a small token of remembrance.

The year 2011-2012 was full of activities for our department wherein we all bonded well, learnt a lot and yes we do feel that we grew too…

We at L'Esprit make a constant effort to interact with each other in a friendly manner and our faculty members are simply great enough to support us academically as well as in arranging the extracurricular activities.
