 Report 2010-11

 The Placement Cell at Kamala Nehru College was instituted in 2006 and since its inception it has been an integral part of the college. The college has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell.

 Since its foundation the aim of the Placement Cell has been two fold: firstly making the students aware of the varieties of options available to them after their graduation for higher education in various courses (in India as well as abroad) as well as jobs opening in various sectors; secondly in developing and familiarizing the soft skills which they would require to enter the job market.

 Keeping these two aims in mind the Placement Cell in the year 2010-11 under the convenorship of Dr. Rupali Bhardwaj, Dr. Pankaj Ahlawat and Dr. Urna Dutta provided a platform for organizations from diverse sectors - both academic and corporate world who were involved in providing both training as well as recruitment process in the college.

 

 In the training activities that were organized throughout the year, the aim was to prepare the prospective students for the campus selection programmes. Under this initiative, various workshops, seminars on varieties of topics like“How to write a Resume”, “How to face an Interview”, “CV writing and Interview Skills” were conducted by training institutes like Success Horizons, SOIL (School of Inspired Leadership) in preparing the students in resume writing, handling face-to-face interviews and development of other soft skills. Eminent career councilor Ms Usha Albuquerque, Director of Careersmart also had a detailed interaction with the students were they were made aware of the various post graduation and career options. She also entertained individual queries from the students

 

 Apart for this the students were exposed to careers in aviation by Frankfinn Institute Of Air Hostess Training, internship programs by “Let’s Intern”and post graduate courses in Nottingham University by Aspire Overseas.  Under the scholarship initiative programs,  Young India visited the college offering scholarship programs to the students overseas. Four students got scholarships for pursuing MBA in India under the scholarship program by Just Careers.

 

 Under the placement campaign, reputed industrial houses across the country like WIPRO, Genpact, Capital IQ, IBM, IIPL came in for campus recruitment programmes. They offered placements to several of the students in the sectors like Banking, Finance and Insurance operations, KPO and Research Analyst. Module One India Ltd. and India Infrastructure Publishing are in the process of recruitment at the present. More than twenty students got the placement during the year academic year 2010-11 with highest pay package as Rs. 4.25 Lakhs.

 

 Overall level the cell has been sensitized to function all through the year towards generating placement and training opportunities for the students.

 

 

 Report: 2011-12

 Keeping these two aims in mind the Placement Cell in the year 2011-12 under the governorship of Dr. Rupali Bhardwaj, Dr. Pankaj Ahlawat and Dr. Urna Dutta provided a platform for organizations from diverse sectors of the corporate world like HCL, Capital IQ, Genpact, Oberoi Group of Hotels, Kingfisher Airlines, Infinity Business School, Protiviti Finance, Mindworks Consultants, Perfect Relations and Lloyds to come to the college for campus recruitment. These events attracted avid student participation and many were selected and offered placements.

 A 3 Day workshop in collaboration with RISE was organized. The workshop aimed at developing soft skills of the students.Also, it focused on areas like resume writing, group discussion and interview. Another workshop aimed at Psychometric behavioral profiling and Employability assessment of the students.

 To provide the students with an opportunity to interact with professionals from the business world, a two day Student-Industry Conclave was organized. Experts from TCS, HCL, CII, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Mckinsey and other organizations share their experiences and interacted with the students.

 A two day Career Fair was held in college. As part of it, the students got an opportunity to interact with leading career counselor Ms Usha Alburqueque and Jitendre Chawla who handled their queries and provided them with relevant information.

 To facilitate overall development of the students and empower them to enter the work arena more effectively, the Placement Cell conducted a number of intensive workshops, seminars and presentations on a variety of topics like “Education Abroad”,” Careers in retail Marketing,HR and Finance”, “Business Communication” and “Personality Development” over the year. .
