Report 2010-11Adagio, The Choreography Society

As adagio entered its 2nd year, it achieved a lot. Along with its first ever outstation competition trip to BITS pilani, Adagio with this year’s theme “Fitting Into Size Zero” showcasing the most neglected problem of anorexia reached newer heights by winning many Delhi university competitions. Adagio defeated colleges like LSR, SRCC and NIFT in their own college by acquiring 1st position in choreography competitions, secured 2nd position in our neighborhood college Gargi, St Stephens, Miranda, Commotion (Delhi haat), Twishha an ngo and 3rd position in JMC. Adagio was also a part of a grand semi classical production “Chitrangadha” by Kamala Nehru College in memory of Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary.
Report 2011-12Formed in the year 2009 with the efforts of just four KNC students- Aastha, Tanushree, Veni and Prachi, Adagio today is among the top three choreography societies of Delhi University. Adagio has reached great heights in a short span of time, leaving behind teams that are six to ten years old. In the year 2010-11, we addressed the issue of anorexia through their piece "Fitting Into Size Zero". Adagio was lauded for taking up such an unconventional theme to dance on and doing complete justice to it. Not only did we manage to draw attention to a serious issue troubling the youth today but also emerged as winners in almost all the competitions throughout the season. The first position at Lady Shri Ram, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shri Ram College of Commerce fests were the most prized among the several positions held, be it in Delhi Dance Fever, JMC, St.Stephens, Gargi, Commotion and others. We makes sure that it isn’t just our dance that tells the story but also our costumes. Brainstorming over costumes just as much as we do for our theme, Adagio is known for beautiful costumes that represent the themes effectively.
Adagio has clearly raised the bar of the choreography competition and is now ready with a piece entitled "The Awakening" for the year 2011-12. Having gained the reputation for being one of the most hard working teams around, we are setting out to scale new heights and make sure we maintain our top position years down the line.
